Alpine Club of Pakistan Plans a Grand reception for Samina Baig, the first Pakistani Girl to Climb Mt Everest Summit

ACP is planning a grand reception for Samina Baig when she arrives Islamabad from Kathmandu, Nepal along with her brother Mirza Ali, after her historic ascent of Mt Everest on 19th May. This was stated by Col (Retd) Manzoor Hussain, President ACP during his visit to Samina Baig’s father Mr Muhammad Khayal Baig, to convey congratulations on behalf of the Pakistani mountaineering community for the great laurels and unique honour earned by his courageous and determined 22 years old daughter Samina Baig, It may be mentioned that Mr Muhammad Khayal Baig from Shimshal, Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan is currently residing in Islamabad. President ACP was accompanied by an ACP delegation comprising Mr Karrar Haideri, member ACP Executive Council/media coordinator and Mr Hasil Shah.

President ACP admired and praised the audacity and courage of Samina’s parents in encouraging her to engage in the adventure of climbing high mountains and especially for undertaking the Mt Everest Expedition. He sought support of concerned Gilgit Baltistan and Federal Government departments for the planned grand reception. President ACP invited elders and youth from Shimshal, Hunza and other parts of Giglit Baltistan to join ACP in making this reception for the first proud Pakistani girl who unfurled Pakistani flag on the highest point on Earth, a grand success.

Earlier Col (Retd) Manzoor Hussain also spoke to Samina Baig and Mirza Ali, who were on their way to Kathmandu, Nepal, and once again congratulated both of them for the outstanding achievement of Samina Baig. He admired their courage, strength and determination for achieving this unique distinction. Both of them reported good health and thanked the whole nation for the encouragement they received from all over after the successful ascent. They plan to hold a press conference upon their arrival in Islamabad.  It may be mentioned that Mirza Ali had arranged Mt Everest expedition through sponsorships provided by his friends and well wishers.
